10 GHz     300W    TWT - Amplifier   NORTEL - DASA

This amplifier was used for television  satellite uplink  service on 14,0 to 14,5 GHz and is

modified for 3cm EME  usage on 10,3  to 10,4 GHz with  linear ( class A ) amplification

at 300W output power ( saturated )

- 19" rack drawer 3 HE  and approx. 60cm deep.

- Weight is 26 Kg.    CE requirements:  DIN VDE 0843 ,  IEC 801-3

- Operating from single line 110 to 230V at  47 to 63  Hz  ( also US- utility )

- Air cooling by built-in blower  with  air in and out on rear side

- Input between 5 and 20 mW drive power into SMA (F) on rear side

- Input has  min. 20 dB return loss by built-in circulator

- Output on R120 rectangular waveguide ( Do not use any coax on this power level ! )

- Load requires max. SWR of 1,5

-  A -50dB test output on front panel  N-connector for spectrum monitoring

- Built-in directional coupler with power sensors  showing forward and reflected power from

   output waveguide

- Modern CPI two-collector TWT with high efficiency, resulting in low power consumption

and low generated heath - resulting in low cooling requirements and low blower noise

- Noise level ( blower ) when transmitting is  < 50 dBA.

- Typical amplifier gain is 40 dB, so good quality cable is required for drive power to

prevent unwanted oscillation - means   NO  RG58 ....

- Intermodulation on output signal typical -24 dB.

-  Built-in precaution for TWT filament supply to withstand long standby operations without

    transmitting periods.

- Switched-mode high voltage conditioner with power factor correction and filters for EMI

- By using switch mode converter not  vulnerable to unstable line voltage.

- Sealed high-voltage components, so less critical if running in  humid enviroment .

- Maximum primary power consumption 1000 W

- All operations are controlled by the internal processor. Measurement data can be recalled

by front panel keyboard and display.  Any voltage adjustments for the TWT and calibration

of the output meter bridge ( cal-factors ) are done from the keyboard / display. Also history

data like operating hours or any occoured  fault / error message is stored internally and can

be read out or erased by front panel display and keyboard.

- Security interlock : An external lock is provided  to prevent transmission if someone is

near antenna or feedhorn. If not required at you installation, use a wire bridge.

- Eye and skin damage level of 20mW per square cm is by far exceeded with this amp output

power ! This requires strict precautions to keep humans and animals out of antenna beam

   direction if transmitting !

- Remote control access is provided by SUB-D-25 connector on rear panel.

On this connector outgoing status messages are available (stby, on, error, local/remote)

Into the connector commands can be sent like stby, on, reset.

- In- and output messages / commands are isolated by opto-couplers.

- A serial data RS232 is available for commands / messages over long distances. We did not

try or use this function. Will be connected by 4 wires plus screen.

- Supply for in- and output messages are internal generated 5V

- Think about delaying TX command until your waveguide switch has reached his final

position to prevent a burnt RX antenna preamplifier by using a wg-relay feedback contact.

- No QSK ....

The 300W TWTA 10 GHz : 2000,- € plus shipping

We offer a ready-for-use amp with integrated power supply. The amp is modified for ham use

at 10.0 to 10.5 GHz. It is an amplifier without an antenna switch. Input is SMA and

output is WR75 / R120 waveguide. Line input is pluggable and a mating connector cable is supplied. You need to fit you own plug to adapt your single phase power outlet. Volatage and current ranges, see above.

Amps can be inspected and tested at DL0SHF in Rönne near Kiel in northern Germany.

Have a look at our TWTA operated site at DL0SHF at : http://sat-sh.lernnetz.de

Price is without shipping to your destination. Shipping will be preferably on a standard pallet to prevent any damage by rough handling with a standard parcel. For European customers we might find an arrangement for different way of shipping / delivery, please ask.
